The implement of Christ’s death
by lastmanstanding insimple physics.. the timber that was used to execute jesus had to be substantial.
thus, its weight could not have been carried entirely, but rather it had to be dragged.. get a log with no crosspiece, one substantial enough to nail a man to, and try to drag it through town.
try to get a hold of it without it sliding out of your grip.

Give me a simple piece of rope and I would quickly make the log easy to drag. A cross indeed. As for the weight and distance, who knows?

How long is a generation?
by LevelThePlayingField inwhat splain does in his talk and chart illustration is make the leap that a generation can have two groups.
and in this case the two groups span more than 108 years.
but no where in scripture is there ever a notion that a generation has two groups.

I noticed that Splane when he was attempting to splane things kept using the phrases like, we just don't know-for the sake of argument- and suppose. I don't know about others but I sure as the sun coming up n the East will not base any amount of belief in a argument based on supposition and we just don't know!
If Splane was giving testimony in a court room and kept making the 'suppose' and 'for the sake of' arguments, the presiding judge would warn him to speak only the facts. After a couple of warnings he would be charged with contempt of court. Any testimony he gave would be ignored as valueless and he would be labeled as a witness lacking credibility. If not ushered out the front door he would be removed, in handcuffs, out the back door.

they have implemented recurring payments "because the hard part about donating is remembering to donate," they actually said that! I thought the hard part was giving away your money and getting less than zero in return LOL
Giving it away is easy. The really hard part is making the money.

If the Watchtower corporation went bust
by Fred Franztone inwhat do you think would happen to jehovah's witnesses as a religion and as a people?.
-
Esse quam videri
It will never go bust as long as the internet is up and running.
They don't need buildings. They would spin it that they had to go underground. It could be run out of someones basement, however, it would be given the appearance of still being a going concern.
The only contact with the Society would be by means of e-mail. No phone contact. [Much like now.]
Everyone advised to keep on meeting in their homes. Keep strong, maintain your faith. Praised for keeping the faith and carrying on in face of persecution.
Instructions would be given on how to send money to their accounts. [offshore] Patreon type account method where monthly sums regularly donated.
Many, if not all of the brass, still there, any where [home, vacationing, etc.] to live off the money as it is passed on to them. A very difficult thing for a 50, 60,70 year old to be sent out to pasture to support themselves. Frantically and creatively thinking how to still live off the sheeple.

Caution, the following may be too graphic for the weak minded.
I live in Canada and have a number of guns. I like things that go bang and make noise. When I was a kid I loved firecrackers. I liked throwing big rocks into creeks and watching them make big splashes. I bought a 1969 Datsun in 1972, when I was 18 years old, and put a 'Thrush' muffler on it. When I drove into downtown Vancouver I made sure everyone heard it.
I am 65 now. I have about 25 guns. Rifles, shotguns, semi-automatic pistols, revolvers, military Russian surplus etc.etc.etc. I shoot target only. I do not hunt and would never consider shooting an animal. My two daughters would never allow that. Interestingly, when I started collecting guns about 10 years ago my older daughter and her husband took it up as a hobby and both are heavily into collecting. They like the physics, ballistics and trajectory etc. They load their own shells and have a room dedicated to their collection. Are we gun nuts? No! It's just a hobby. Is a person who has a pool table 'pool table nuts'? Yet a whole room is dedicated to it.
Obviously the requirements to own guns in Canada are stringent. Only responsible people, carefully vetted, are allowed to possess. Safety is always emphasized and punishment can be severe for breaking any laws controlling firearms. For all of you in countries that do not allow this level of ownership or you pansies whose wives will not allow you to own a firearm, look and weep.
Here are some of my collection.

pale.emperor '...Since when did cashiers outright ask you if you wanted to donate to a charity?'
I live in Vancouver, Canada. The cashiers at the grocery chain where I shop [Save-On] are always asking customers to donate to the latest charity drive. Children's Hospital, Food for Kids, etc. All good charities but it annoys me and others. Comments have been made in the local media about how customers are getting tired of it. I suspect the purpose isn't always altruistic. It is nice to brag that you collected $10,000 for this or that charity.

“Oxfam demonstrated a “failure of leadership” when it failed to fully inform authorities and because it didn’t prevent the alleged perpetrators from going to work for other charities…”
“What is so disturbing about Oxfam is that when this was reported to them, they completely failed to do the right thing,”
“We will continue to address the underlying cultural issues that allowed this behaviour to happen,”
Oxfam’s investigation into the charges was hampered by a “determination to keep it out of the public eye,”
“If they do not hand over all the information they have from their investigation and subsequently to the relevant authorities,… then I cannot work with them anymore as an aid delivery partner,”
